Momentum

Momentum is a piece in which emotional intensity is maintained throughout its three movements. The first movement exhibits an uncompromising nature with extended melodic ideas supported by a strongly rhythmic accompaniment. The flowing horn melody in the middle movement is coloured by some brooding harmonies and occasional indignant intrusions from the piano. The finale is energetic and provides a more hopeful sentiment, with briskly flowing passages and rhythmic interplay between the horn and piano.
